Skywalk

It’s time to add one more place to your bucket list. India opens its first skywalk at Pelling in Sikkim. The Pelling Skywalk is a transparent structure made of glass. It is located adjacent to the giant Chenrezig statue. “Chenrezig” is a manifestation of all the Buddha’s compassion. His name means “One Who Looks with an Unwavering Eye”. Around 2.5 kilometers from Pelling located at a height of 7,200 feet above sea level, the Pelling Skywalk is surrounded by the snow crown Himalayas and overlooks the beautiful 137 feet tall statue of Chenrezig and the stairs that lead up to it, with golden prayer wheels on both sides. From the skywalk, Tourists will have the capacity to get a scenic view of the valley underneath, including the winding Teesta and the Rangit, aside from the Kanchenjunga.

The Pelling skywalk has become a major hub of tourists owing to the odd mixture of thrill and peace that it has to offer. Several attractions can be viewed from over the bridge including lush forests, monasteries, and waterfalls. This huge structure allows tourists to look down several thousand feet in the air, from the peak to the very bottom of mountains. The Glass Skywalk is not for easily scared, or for people with dizziness as walking on transparent glass at such heights can be blood-curdling.
